In the end,I compensated the other parents with a sum of medical expenses using the money Aaron gave me.
On the way home,Tom held his phone tightly,as if he was afraid that I would snatch it away if he wasn't careful.
“Don't worry,”I narrowed my eyes and said softly,“I won't confiscate your phone.”
Tom was stunned and looked at me suspiciously,“Really?”
“Really,and I won't tell your mom or your grandma about this either.”
Hearing my promise,Tom couldn't suppress the smile at the corner of his mouth and snorted at me,“You're quite sensible!”
After all,a child was still a child.He thought I had given him a sweet treat,not knowing that this candy was wrapped in poison.
I helped Tom hide the fact that he fought and played games.For the past two days,Tom finally didn't cause any trouble,and I finally got a new chair and could sit at the dining table and eat in peace.
On the day Aaron came back from his business trip,someone knocked on the door in the morning.
I opened the door and was stunned when I saw the people outside.
An old Taoist priest in a yellow robe waved his whisk and smiled at me,“Is this the home of Mary Johnson?”
Mary Johnson was my mother-in-law's full name.I nodded.
“Oh!Master,you're finally here!”
Mary Johnson cordially invited these Taoist priests into the house.For the next whole morning,the house was filled with a smoky atmosphere,and the smell of burning incense was everywhere.
Mary Johnson believed in Buddhism,Taoism,and all kinds of things.Anyway,she believed in whatever was beneficial to her.
But I never expected that after discussing with the Taoist priest,my mother-in-law would choose to place a shrine at the door of the bedroom where Aaron and I slept!
My objection was invalid.My mother-in-law resolutely placed the shrine at the door of my bedroom.
Looking at the solemn statue of the god,my heart was filled with mixed feelings.
Finally,the old Taoist priest left gracefully.I rubbed my forehead.My mother-in-law looked at the shrine with a smile and muttered,“This is a great god I invited!It will definitely bless me to have a grandson soon!”
My sister-in-law echoed,“Sure it will.But then again,maybe someone is so unlucky that they just can't have a child...”
I silently clenched my fists,and my nails dug deep into my flesh!
“Mom,”I asked,“How much did it cost to invite this god?”
My mother-in-law immediately changed her expression,“What are you talking about!Talking about money in front of the statue of the god!Vulgar!”
I twitched the corners of my mouth.
Forget it.My mother-in-law had a pension and some private savings.She could spend her own money however she wanted.
I sighed.Just as I was about to take a sip of water,I suddenly found that there was a strange smell in the water.
Looking down,there was actually a yellow talisman paper in the water!
“Cough,cough,cough!Cough...”
I choked and coughed continuously.My sister-in-law laughed heartily,and my mother-in-law nodded,“Yes!Drink it quickly!The master said that drinking this talisman can make a person get pregnant with a boy immediately!”
I coughed until tears came out.Looking at the solemn statue of the god and the water cup with the talisman paper floating in it...
I had an urge to escape from this home!
