Chapter 171: Her Story Ends Here

'What you are trying to tell me is that you are in front of their headquarters?" Sapphire asked in disbelief and Claire hummed in agreement.

'I can't believe that your damn uncle kept some of his slush fund in the form of artworks, the man has absolutely no interest in art so that is the least of the places anyone would check." Claire said. 'I have to tell my father to sort those things out."

'Is Matthew still with you?" Sapphire asked.

'Yes, he is here with me. I am sure that they didn't see us or they wouldn't have come to their so-called headquarters that look like a rundown bungalow in the middle of the city. I am sure you would miss it if you came to sniff it out, we almost didn't believe our eyes but Heather and Jessica entered the place."

'You just stay there with Matthew, me, Brielle and some men would be there."

'Are you sure about this? What about if they overpower you?" Claire asked in worry.

'That's why we have a lot of men with us. Brielle told me that Venita told her that the headquarters is just called the headquarters but it is not usually heavily guarded," Sapphire explained.

'Alright." She replied simply.

'See you there." Sapphire said and disconnected the call.

'They are on the way," she told him and he nodded, still keeping his eyes firmly on the building that Venita was probably in at that moment, facing god knows what.

'Okay." He said simply and she turned to look at the building too.

'So, do you still love Sapphire?" Claire asked and he glanced at her but she had her eyes firmly fixed on the building.

'Did you finally decide to talk to me?" He asked but didn't get a reply from her, he cleared his throat when she saw that there was no hope that she would reply to her anytime soon, she might just not talk to her again.

'I don't love her the way I used to anymore but there is still a part that would be forever hers in my heart, it would just turn to an immense level of likeness," Matthew said. 'But I am really sorry for what I did to you Claire." He continued with a somber expression.

'Look, they are here!" She exclaimed pointing to the limousine that parked on the street just some feet away from them, right in front of the building itself. Matthew stared at her for the last time before he sat straight.

They stared at them as the men got out of the car in an organized manner and flanked everywhere in the building. They rushed in and Claire stared at them with her hand clasped in one another.

'I hope that they will get Venita out safe, even though I don't like that rude bitch, I still don't wish death upon her," Claire said.

'I am not saying this because I know that she is the one that killed granny but she is not going to make it out of that place."

'Quit being pessimistic!"

'I am just stating the facts," he replied, and shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly when she rolled her eyes at him in exasperation.

--------------------

They had really expected the people they would meet at the headquarters wouldn't be much but nothing could prepare them for the surprise they felt when they entered and saw no one, it was like there was no one in this place to begin with.

'Let's just start checking the room one after the other." Brielle said and Sapphire nodded in understanding, they started opening the rooms and checking it.

It was mostly an empty white room with super bright light.

'Found her!" One of the men who came with them said loudly and they rushed inside.

'Oh my god!" Brielle exclaimed as soon as she laid her eyes on her cousin who was on the floor covered in the pool of her own blood, she had cuts on her body and a bullet wound on her chest.

'She is still breathing but faintly, she is going to die soon." Another man informed her and Sapphire nodded, she rushed to her as the men walked out of the room to keep their eyes on the environment of the building for any potential threat since it is obvious that she was just shot and the gang just evacuated the building.

Brielle kneeled beside her and placed her head on her laps, her hair matted in blood and it stuck to her forehead, she opened her tiredness and a small smile on her lips when she saw Brielle and Sapphire kneeling there beside her.

'How funny it was that you people are the ones beside me right at the final moment of my death," she said in a whisper that they both strained their ears to listen to it. 'I was bad to you, rude, selfish, condescending and annoying every time I had to do anything with you, even you Sapphire, I did everything to bring you down even when I had nothing against you, and I just wanted money that I didn't even need. I have failed and my parents, to think that you were one of the nicest people to me before we forced you away from home, I am just happy that you see past self-deliverance and embraced what made you truly happy, every other things seems so meaningless now that I am at the brink of death, now that I know that I would surely die, it is too late to even feel the stabs of regret which I know would make me feel better if I at least did.

My being is slowly dissipating and I couldn't be bothered to make amends to those I want to make it too, I have wronged a lot of people. My life was a nightmare, my story ends here and I didn't get to choose the ending that I like. I am sorry for failing you guys." She said, tears falling on her cheeks, mixing with the blood and dirt on her cheeks. Blood seeped out from the corner of her lips as she made the effort to say her last words, she held Brielle hand tightly.

'It was Arielle. Arielle is the boss that they are talking about, she is the one behind all of this. She is the one that ordered to kill grandmother, she is the one behind Heather and Miranda's switch. She is also planning to work with Uncle Felix. I don't know what they are up to but they formed some sort of bond, I think it has something to do with Sapphire again. They are livid that she is the one that got almost all the properties, you should be careful when dealing with them, they are a deadly combination. They_" Her rushed word was caught in her throat and she coughed out blood and splashed it on Sapphire and herself. 'Make…" she coughed out some more blood. 'Sure… that… you ….get… them," she said and with that she dropped limp in Sapphire's eyes, her eyes staring up at them.

She could feel the stabs of the regret, maybe just not enough to the level Venita felt that she deserved but those lifeless eyes definitely had immense regret in it.

She wanted to repent but she wasn't given the chance to, she would never be given the chance to.

'I hope you find peace with yourself Venita," Brielle said and used her hand to close those eyes.

'And we are going to fulfill your last wish."

--------------------

Heather stared through the binoculars as Sapphire's men carried Venita's lifeless figure into the car, they put her in the car, Brielle entered the car too and Sapphire stared around and Heather scoffed when she cleaned her eyes.

'Was she crying too? Too fucking nice." Jessica said and watched as Sapphire entered the car and they drove off, Matthew and Claire's car following them as soon as they moved.

'You should have allowed us to let them blow up in that house," Heather said to Arielle who was standing at the window with a stick of cigarette.

'What fun would that be then?" Arielle asked, still staring at the streets beneath them blankly, her voice was mocking but face didn't show it, her face lacked the usually haughtiness that was always there when she is with those below them, the humbleness that hang there when she is with Melissa was gone too as well as the naivetés she radiates when with her grandmother. Only the proof that she was a real devil remained instead, an emotionless face that can't be read.

'What should we do next?" Jessica asked, ready for her to give her others.

'We would help Felix in his plan too. Where are the documents Venita got from Oliver while getting cozy with him?" She asked.

'In the second cabinet in the archive section. Should I bring it?" Heather asked.

'No, leave it there for now. Jessica would get it later to Rader when he is prepared to meet Felix." Arielle said and turned to look at them. 'You Heather," she called her name and she stood at attention.

'I want Elluciana Carter under hold before the sun sets tomorrow."

'But…didn't he wanted Sapphire?"

'Just do asked."

'Understood."
