Chapter 169: Let's Talk Somewhere Else

The click of her boots was loud and bounced off the wall as she walked, she kept her eyes and ears wide open, her heart would skip a bit at nearly every small foreign sound and she jumped every time that happened.
'It's just like you to be here on time," she heard and immediately stood at alert.
At her right side, she saw a lot of women standing behind a man who sat on an expensive chair. The women were all clad in leather jackets and pants with at least a gun in a person's hand while the boss didn't bother himself with that.
'I love your punctuality, have I ever told you that?" The man continued.
Venita knew that was the boss that she wanted to meet but she couldn't see his face because he was using a face mask, the kind of fancy mask you use at a mask party.
It covered most of his face and the only thing that was left in the open was his mouth, forehead and nose, Venita looked at the man and knew at a glance that it wasn't Felix.
'You are supposed to be the boss?" she asked, while she maintained the suspicious glare, and the man threw his head back and laughed.
'Should I talk to you in an automated voice in order to be able to convince you?" He asked.
'What's with the harem? Are you supposed to have men around you?" She asked, glancing at the women with Stony faces, none of them batted an eyelid at her insult, they just stared ahead like she didn't exist.
'Those men that you saw that day three years ago and the ones you see everytime I needed you to do something are just like you, they are not part of the gang, they are not members. These women right here are the real members," he answered her question.
'This is definitely not the boss, he is talking too much. Perhaps there is still hope that Felix is the boss and is still coming?" Venita heard Brielle's voice in her head.
She was using small ear plugs in both ears and there was a device on her that made Brielle be able to hear whatever is going on at her side.
They came to this place at dawn and had searched every nook and cranny, they finally managed to get a blind spot after they combed the place for straight two hours.
Brielle was there, listening to everything in the car, the place was not too far from this place and she would just manage to get into the car and they would speed off, they just wanted to get a hint as to who the boss was.
Venita knew that this is the spot that they would meet, she just pretended to look for them in order not to make them suspicious but there was no doubt that she was nervous and afraid.
'So how does this go? Do you just say that I am a member and I turn to one? That doesn't seem right and reliable," Venita asked and the man scoffed.
'Wow, you have become bolder, that's good too. This is what we would do, you would get a tattoo that every member of the gang has and you have passed the first stage then you would come back with me to the headquarters."
'Well? Are you going to get the insignia? Then am I gonna trail you to the headquarters? Seems like some damn hard job, at least the real boss should be at the headquarters." Brielle said and Venita hummed in approval, it is for both parties.
'So when and where do I get the tattoo?"
'Right now?"
'That works." She replied and paused when she heard some shuffling on the other side, it seemed like there was some trouble in paradise.
'Oh shit! I think their men just caught up to me! Seems like this blind spot has found a magician to get it an eye. I am going to have to get out of here! Maybe I would get some __" Brielle rushed before she heard a loud crash which made her furrowed her brows. She couldn't ask anything, so I'm order not to alert them.
'Come on Venita. Ask how she is? Maybe by some sort of grace, she would be alive and kicking," the man on the chair said and Venita stared at him in mild surprise. It wasn't that shocking to her that they were able to figure out the fact that Brielle followed her.
'Why did you do that to her? There's no way she would have been able to do anything in the first place."
'We don't overlook the slightest of threats, though you would have known that by now," she heard a feminine voice behind her and she whipped around her head to look at her.
Finally, she is here!
'Boss!" Everyone greeted the woman that was walking towards them in long but firm strides, her aura was imposing and her eyes were cold and soulless and her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, she used a hat and a black sanitary nose mask that covered her nose, mouth and jaw. She also wore leather jackets and pants like the rest.
'You finally decided to show yourself after hiding for three years straight." Venita said.
'No, it has been more than three years. Let's talk somewhere else."she said simply and before Venita could wonder what on earth she was talking about, she felt something hard hit her on the back of her head and the world became dark.
—--------------------------
'You are calling back so soon? Did you miss me that much?" Sapphire said as she stared at Alexander through the screen of her phone, he was video calling her. 'We just talked at home with the kids."
'I miss you every time I am not with you, I should just cancel everything happening here and just spend some time with you and the kids," he replied and and she rolled her eyes at him with a small smile on her lips.
After all the drama that went down, Alexander had made sure that he stationed a lot of bodyguards around them, in and out of sight because there were still threats lurking around in the shadow.
Sebastian and Sheila were still yet to be found, it was obvious that Heather miraculously survived the fall from the cliff, it turned out that the water wasn't too deep that she wouldn't be able to escape but there was a possibility that she got help from that boss.
'I had the police arrest Melissa," Sapphire told him and he nodded. There was hardly anything that the man didn't agree with her on, the one and only time he had ever said no to her was at time when he told her not to come along to rescue Andrea, maybe he would still be mad at her till now if she hadn't been shot by the scumbag who still hadn't wake up.
When she first became conscious, he made it clear that he was still mad at her and wouldn't smile or talk to her, he just took care of her and they sat in a quiet room. It took a lot of effort to make him come around, the fact that Andrew was still missing also helped too.
'Are you going to keep her behind the bars?" He asked and she shrugged.
'I don't even know if that's what I really want to do to her. I would love it better if she is kept behind bars but I am still musing on that," she explained with thoughtful eyes.
'Don't sweat about it too much. She deserved to stay behind the bars for at least a few months if you don't plan to keep her there given what she did to you," Alexander told her.
'There's a likelihood that Tiara would press charges against her and take her to court. That way she would rot in prison, there is one hell of hard evidence against her." Sapphire said.
'Do you feel bad about sending her to prison?" Alexander asked and she could feel the intensity of his stare even from behind the screen.
'No, I don't. ' She replied firmly. 'I am just thinking that everything could have gone better than that. Grandmother would have been so happy to see her repent."
'Repenting is up to Melissa only. If she doesn't see her wrong and insist that she is right on everything, there is no way to save her. I am sure that the only thing on her mind now is how she would get revenge on you, isn't it better to keep her there for now? She shouldn't join the list of those we should watch out for."
'You are right, Alexander." She told him with a smile and he nodded with one of his own draped on his lips.
'I have to go now sweetheart, I will talk to you later. I love you," he told her and she nodded.
'I know," she said cheekily and he only smiled at her cheekiness. 'I love you more."
'That's up for debate. I would talk to you later," he said and disconnected the call.
Her phone rang almost immediately and she picked the call when she saw that it was Aunt Brielle.
'Aunt Brielle?"
'Let's try to track her. I am sure that she had been dragged to the headquarters by their boss."
