Chapter 144: Your Families Are Suspicious

'What makes you think that we are just going to allow her to stay here and do shits?" Arielle said in disagreement.
'You might have got it all wrong, Lawyer, maybe it was some typo error. You can't tell me that mother left all of that to Sapphire," Felix added.
'She is not staying here, absolutely not! I am not going to allow it. She is not a member of this house! She had been chased out a long time ago out of it, there is absolutely no way she is going to be the lady of the house!" Marylynne exclaimed, her eyes shooting blazes at Sapphire.
Sapphire smirked in amusement, this is probably the second time they have the same opinion on a matte, and they have never been more united.
Funny enough both times had something to do with Sapphire and Emiliana, her grandmother was also absent both times.
The first time they displayed such a good level of unity is when they conspired to chase her out of the mansion.
'Your opinions about the matter are absolutely none of my business and concern, like I said earlier to Melissa, I don't care.
Madam Emiliana left the rules before she left and as her lawyer I have to follow it dutifully, there is nothing that can be done about it but if it irks you so much, you might as well die and go and ask her in the world of the dead.
I would advise none of you to not hound me or else I would take legal actions against you and it won't be pretty," Lawyer Tom threatened and they all swallowed as they stared at him.
They had never seen the man angry because he had always been calm and soft spoken around Madam Emiliana and they only encountered him when the old woman was around since none of them had any sort of business together.
'This is nonsense!" Felix exclaimed and walked out of the room angrily, clutching the piece of paper given to him tightly in his hand and banging the door loudly behind him.
'What? Are you practically telling us to go and die?" Marylynne said, scoffing in disbelief.
How dare the low and classless lawyer tell them that?
'Are you threatening us?" Melissa asked, narrowing her eyes at the man.
'Yes," He said firmly, both Venita and Arielle gasped while Melissa scoffed. Max and Matthew just stood there staring at them in amusement.
In a way, that is what the family needed, or else they would really turn to pesky pests around the man.
'Ms. Aldine, if you would follow me," Lawyer Tom said and Sapphire nodded before standing.
'I would prefer it if you call me Sapphire, you are not a stranger," Sapphire said with a small smile and carried her bag from the chair. 'But I don't mind, let us get out of here." She added, turning to glance at her family members with disdain visible in her eyes.
'Very well," Lawyer Tom said and signaled to his assistant who had gathered all the files they would need and the young man nodded in understanding.
'What? You still think I would allow it? Forget about it!" Marylynne said with anger and ripped up the paper into pieces.
'There are several other copies. Even if you destroy that one, I would give it to her in Madam Emiliana's study where she would sign all the documents." Lawyer Tom said. 'I would appreciate it if you don't disrupt the smooth running of the process," He added with a hint of spite in his voice.
Sapphire smiled at Max when he waved at her, raising the piece of paper that contained his inheritance in the air.
'I would talk to you later," Sapphire mouthed to him and he nodded, she smiled at Matthew who nodded at her.
They walked in silence as they made their way to the woman's study. Sapphire drank in the view of the house once again, thankfully she is not feeling under the weather this time which made her remember some good memories she had concerning this place.
She later sat on the couch when they finally entered the study and relaxed comfortably, she was sitting opposite the lawyer as he sorted through the files in his briefcase.
'You seemed to have a bit of an issue with all of them," Sapphire said and the man paused, before he resumed what he was doing, he placed the files on the table and faced her squarely.
'What makes you think that?" Mr. Tom asked and Sapphire bit her lips in thought.
'You . . . Normally, no matter the tantrum they throw and how much they irk you, you just ignore them and treat them as if they don't exist but today was different, it was so clear that you were after them," Sapphire said.
'They are a bunch of immature swine and I still wouldn't have minded if they hadn't been involved in your grandmother's death," He explained but Sapphire didn't make any sort of emotion, she had the same expression as when they first started the conversation. It was the man's turn to be mildly surprised.
'You seemed to be aware of that," he noted and Sapphire nodded.
'I know that her death is not a simple one, no one dies from diabetes as fast as she did. Slipped into diabetic coma and died? Sounds like a lie straight out of a stupid movie, if there's something I am hundred percent sure about, it is the fact that she cares about her health so damn much. She won't die like that."
'You are more than I thought, I am so pleased about that," He replied with a nod of approval.
'But I haven't got anything on it, I only have the lead that Oliver is involved in, I don't know how active his involvement is?" She informed me.
'I smelled something fishy about the medical reports so I went to investigate at the hospital, it was there that I discovered that she didn't really fall into a coma, she was only unconscious for a while and woke up for a bit before she slept again and was discovered to be dead by the doctor.
Not many people saw her being awake because it was only for a while and she sent me a text during that time. I was only able to confirm this when I checked the time the message was sent and the time she was at the hospital.
The only thing she told me was to go and get the will ready, which means that she might have been aware of her death.
Upon further investigation, I discovered that a high level of Amaryl and Glucotrol in her system," Lawyer Tom explained and Sapphire shook her head in disbelief.
'Wasn't someone in the family informed about that? I heard nothing of that, I am sure that neither Matt nor Max knew about it, Aunt Brielle would have made it known worldwide if she knew," Sapphire asked
'It was said that some member of the family was informed about it but they were asked to keep quiet," He answered and Sapphire scoffed.
'I am finding this more and more ridiculous. Why on earth would they kill her?" Sapphire asked in disbelief.
'I am not sure but I suspect it is because Madam Emiliana started getting actively involved in the things that are not to their advantage. I heard that she collapsed when she was arguing with Melissa inside this very study.
I have reasons to believe she would have died either way if her body didn't act up the way it did that day," he said and she moved closer to look at him.
'Why do you say that?"
'Or at least injured very badly, you see that award sculpture over there?" he said pointing to the sculpture that was on the window side and Sapphire nodded. 'She would have been hit by that. I am sure that you will find Melissa's print if you go and check it."
'What makes you so sure of that?"
'It never leaves the table, ever since it had been awarded to Melissa, it had just remained there. It would have collected a lot of dust if the maids didn't clean it from time to time, she was the one here that day and she informed everyone about the situation. Ever since then this room had been locked, I am the only one that had the pass code to the door" he told her and Sapphire nodded.
'This means that the person who did it is definitely a member of the family, even if they are not the brain behind it, they are still a part of it," Sapphire said and Lawyer Tom nodded, Sapphire thought about it for a bit before nodding.
'I get it now, this gives me a lead of where to start with, I have my eyes on Melissa and Venita, they are the main suspects," Sapphire said.
'I agree," The man said. 'I would also keep an eye out for Felix, I absolutely don't trust that man."
'That would be a good doctor, now where are the documents I need to sign?"
