Chapter 141: Sharing Her Bad luck

It was the way you look at a normal person you see for the first time in a busy street, you don't know them and you don't care about them.
'Thanks for coming here to pick her up Miranda," The woman standing in front of her told her and she smiled at her, a smile that reached her eyes and lightened up her face. She looked weird with that smile, she had never seen her smile like that.
And the woman, who was probably a teacher in the school, just called her Miranda.
'Thanks a lot for taking care of her till I am here, Jennifer just doesn't have time this week, her boss is working her head off," she replied with a pleasant smile, that once again, looks weird to Sapphire.
'Mom. . . Is it just me or does the witch seem entirely different today," Andrea asked in a puzzled voice.
'She is like a different person," Andrew confirmed with a nod of his head.
'I would take her away now," Miranda said to the teacher who nodded, turned to the kid who nodded at her and raised her so that she could hold her hand.
They started walking towards them and the kids lightened up when she saw both Andrea and Andrew.
'Aunt Miranda, these are the coolest kids in our school whom I told you about, they are twins" the girl whispered to Miranda but they all heard it anyway.
'Andrea! Andrew!" The girl yelled and the twins both nodded with an awkward smile on her lips.
'Do you remember her name?" Andrew murmured and Andrea shook her head while waving at her.
'How would I remember her name when I am sure that I have never set my eyes on her?" Andrea asked, staring at the girl who was skipping towards them in excitement.
Sapphire was scrutinizing the woman no s discreetly, she needed to be sure that something is not wrong and there's no error in the system.
'Miss Miranda," the teacher from earlier called, coming into view, she paused when she saw Sapphire. 'Hi, Ms. Aldine, I didn't notice you standing there."
Miranda turned to stare at her in surprise when she heard the teacher call her Ms. Aldine before turning to listen to whatever the woman was saying.
Sapphire took out her phone and discreetly took a picture of Miranda talking to the teacher before sending a quick text to Luci and Claire in their chat room.
'Heather is still in prison, right?" Sapphire asked in the text.
'Why? Are you worried about her?" Luci texted back and Sapphire rolled her eyes at the ridiculous woman.
'Yes,she is still there. Why?" Claire replied to the question like a normal person.
She sent the picture she just took to the group.
'Because I just saw her at the kids' school and she was called Miranda, or I am having illusions and seeing her face everywhere," Sapphire added.
'OMFG! What the hell?" That was Luci and there was no more message, Claire was still typing though.
Sapphire looked at her kids who were still chatting, albeit smoothly, with the girl who she is sure they still don't know her name.
They were low-key investigating the girl and asking about her Aunt. She didn't catch up though, answering all their questions because she is happy to be talking to the coolest kids.
'I just checked with Mike and Heather is still in prison, he just finished having a chat with her and apparently he suspects that Heather must have lost some of her memories. Oliver hit her head on the coffee table, she bled and then she doesn't remember anything after that," Luci texted.
'Shouldn't we be glad that her stupid love for Oliver is out of the way and we could figure out why on earth the man is trying to end her?" That was Claire.
'Hard to be when she remembers nothing," Luci texted.
'And her doppelganger is on the loose, does that exist? Even though I am seeing it, I am still having a hard time believing it even though she is in front of me as we speak," Sapphire added.
'Ms. Aldine," she heard while waiting for their reply and turned to see Miranda staring at her with a smile.
This isn't normal at all, that expression is never on Heather's face when she looks at her, there is either a sneer on her lips, disgust in her eyes, her whole body tensed up in anger or an insult bubbling at the back of her mind.
'Yeah. . ." She trailed off and the woman smiled at her.
'Miranda Brooks," she replied and Sapphire nodded. 'Nice to meet you," she said and raised her hand for a handshake which Sapphire accepted, all of it felt uncanny. 'I didn't notice that you were the one standing there earlier.
'My pleasure," she said, still staring at her with doubt in her eyes.
'I understand you, Ms. Aldine_"
'Just Sapphire reserve is fine, please," she cut her off politely and she nodded.
'Sapphire, I know that I look a lot like Ms. Smith that did a lot of bad things to you. I was actually attacked on the streets because I look like her a lot. It still happens occasionally but I can't remove my face, can I?" She stared with a sigh.
'Wow, I am sorry for my behavior,it is just that the resemblance is uncanny. I am also sorry that you had to endure that," Sapphire replied with a smile. 'It will blow over soon, the real Heather is still in prison and I am sure that people will forget her soon."
'Thanks a lot Sapphire, you are really sweet. I don't understand why on earth she did something like that to you," Miranda said. 'But I guess that we are too unlucky, Jennifer, Amy's mom," she said gesturing to the kid that was talking to her kids, they had changed the topic when Miranda got near them. So the kid's name is Amy, she would make sure to tell her kids that. 'Said that I must have done some pretty bad things in my past life to be given the same face as that of a lady who had such bad luck and fate." She added and they both chuckled.
Sapphire checked her wristwatch and saw that they were already running late.
'You must be running late," Miranda said and Sapphire nodded.
'Yeah, if you would excuse us," Sapphire replied. 'I would leave with the kids now.
'Alright, it was pleasant having a nice chat with you," she said with that kind smile, Sapphire wondered how on earth two people could look so similar and yet different at the same time.
The kids also said their goodbye to Amy before following their mother out.
'According to Amy, that woman is a very nice Aunt of hers who is a good friend of her mother. They have been together for like….three years? The time frame is not sure since Amy can't remember clearly. She is staying with them at the moment because she got scammed and dumped by her boyfriend, he cheated her out of the house and on her," Andrew explained to Sapphire as they walked to the car.
'This is also her first time picking her up from school, her mom's been busy with things at work. She also mentioned that she just got sacked by her boss at work so she is jobless," Andrea said and Andrew rolled his eyes at her.
'Unemployed, Andrew. Use unemployed, saying that she is jobless sounds rude," he cautioned her and it was Andrea's turn to roll her eyes at him.
'What difference? It has the same meaning anyway. How about I say she doesn't do shit to make money keep rolling on, that sounds nice right. Come on, it is not my fault that she looks like that witch a lot, it gives me the chills," Andrea replied.
Sapphire got them into the car and made them use their seatbelts. She also got into the driver's seat when her phone rang, it was a text in the group chat.
'I am still finding it hard to believe my eyes too," Claire said.
'Okay guys, she said that her name is Miranda Brooks, does that help?" Sapphire asked.
'Okay, I am going to find out about this woman," Alyssa had joined the chat.
'Do that, maybe you would find something," Claire said.
'I came up with nothing," Alyssa said.
'I asked Zayn for help and this is what he told me," Luci texted.
'You have Zayn's number??!!" Alyssa asked.
'I thought you guys are enemies that don't see eye to eye," Claire added.
'Continue please Luci, I am sure that you guys can ask her whatever questions you want to ask her later," Sapphire texted and both Claire and Alyssa sent some weird emoji at the same time.
'Zayn said that her name is Miranda Brooks and she is just another normal girl with good qualities at first glance, but after digging deep, he discovered that she is the long lost daughter of the Smith family, Heather's sister."
'Wait what?!" Alyssa text with a wide eyed emoji.
'Heather had a sister? Why have I never heard of that?" Sapphire asked.
'Yeah, she is the youngest sibling, the one they lost in an accident a decade ago. They don't talk about it anymore and Heather doesn't flaunti t, that's why most people don't know about it," Luci added.
