Chapter 59: Diamonds

'Beautiful right?" She heard behind her and she nodded in confirmation, the person stood beside her and she turned to look at the person who just talked and her eyes widened in surprise when she saw him, he also has the same expression.
'Matthew, right?" She said and he nodded.
'Claire, right?" He said and she nodded, she didn't expect him to remember her name because the day she came to the house, he was in a hurry to see Sapphire.
'I didn't peg you as someone into art, you don't look exactly like those who do," he said and she nodded.
'I paint sometimes but I don't do it most of the time, I am here to meet with the owner of this place and I stopped to give my eyes a good sight," she replied and he nodded.
'I see, I am an avid fan. I come to the museum at least twice a week and I never miss any auction, I have a lot of collection, my mom said I am just hoarding it,"
'It is not hoarding if it is art," she replied and he smiled.
'I know right, but they won't think that, it is so frustrating sometimes," he replied and Claire turned to take a good look at him.
'I would like to get something to eat, do you want to come with me,"
'Now that you mentioned food, I suddenly feel hungry," he said and followed her to the cafeteria, they sat down and ordered food.
'How is Sapphire and the kids?" He asked curiously.
'Haven't you been able to get across to Sapphire after that?"
'No, I called her but she was ignoring me," He said with a frown. 'It seems to me like she doesn't want anything to do with me anymore,"
'It was your behavior that caused that,"
'What?"
'Yeah, ever since all those things that happened, Alexander was the first person who was in this city that didn't judge her, he accepted her with her kids and shielded her from your family, do you think that her mom is letting her be because she wants nothing to do with Sapphire?" Claire asked, shaking her head.
'No. They are only keeping a distance because they don't want to face Alexander's wrath,"
'But.."
'She won't listen to you, Sapphire is finally breathing, Alexander doesn't really do anything to her, he just let himself be the space where she could take a breather without worrying about any judgment,"
The waiter brought their food over to them and they said their thanks.
'So, if your intention is to give her a bad picture of Alexander, it won't freak her because she also never had a good picture when she came and Alexander took her like that and I don't think there is any secret between them anymore, maybe Sapphire haven't told him about everything that went down three years ago but," Claire said taking her fork. 'I am sure that Alexander already told her everything about him."

They were at a five star restaurant like the kids asked them to come to but Alexander already rented the whole place so they were alone, he had arranged for a table to be set at the balcony so she could see the night sky.
The whole place was lit up with gold light, making it look like a small fairy dinner.
'You don't have to go this far,"
'This isn't far at all, I made it like this because I don't want to make you feel too uncomfortable, if it was our own real date, you would probably get to chose the theme unknowingly and we won't be sitting in a boring restaurant,"
'Then why are we here?"
'Because the prince and princess wants it, they would have my head if I took you somewhere that would stress my wound,"
'You can't endure that," Sapphire asked with a laugh.
'They said the punishment is for you and not for me, so a restaurant it is," he said and Sapphire raised a brow at him in disbelief.
'When you knew that we were still coming to the restaurant, why didn't you tell me when I asked, you kept saying that it is a surprise,"
'Because it is a surprise," he said, teasingly with mischief in his eyes and she scoffed.
'You got the bad traits of the kids," Sapphire said shaking her head, she took her cutleries and started eating.
'It is a pleasure of mine," he said, staring at her as she ate, she stopped after a while to stare at him.
'Aren't you going to eat?" She asked and he shook his head, placing the food in front of him to the side.
'Staring at you is enough for me, I don't get to see you all dressed up beautifully a lot of times so I want to savor the moment," he said and she tried to hide her blush by adjusting her hair.
'How about you take a picture, that lasts longer," he said and he nodded before removing his phone.
'Don't tell me that you are going to do it, most people just look away,"
'Too bad, I am not most people," he said and she shook her head at him. 'Now, why don't you pose for the camera," he asked and she dropped her knife.
She adjusted herself on the chair and really posed, he smirked as he dropped his phone.
'Now, we are both weird, most people won't pose at that moment," he said and she rolled her eyes at him.
'Why don't you just take the damn picture?" She asked and he took a picture, she continued eating and he went back to watching her eat.
'Do you want me to go with you to the Conrad Mansion?" he asked and she paused to stare at him.
'That was totally random," she said and he raised a brow. 'No, don't worry about it, it is best if I went there alone,"
'Hmm. Okay," he said.
They later stood beside each other, staring down at the beautiful night view of the city and staring up at the stars.
'I used to think of the stars as diamonds that litters the sky,"
'In a way they are and you are too," he said and she turned to stare at him.
'Even after everything?" She asked, staring at him but he was staring at the sky.
'Most especially after everything, your job is to shine and you do that so beautifully, no matter what they did to you, you still managed to keep shinning like a diamond,"
'That is your point of view about me?"
'Anyone seeing anything else is blind. Do you want to know the reason why you haven't broken?" He asked and she nodded.
'Because you are a diamond, those stuff don't break, they cut," he said and she couldn't help the tears that welled up in her eyes.
Does he ever run out of the right things to say at most times, he knew how to keep her smiling, her self worth and confidence that was already lost found their way back to her.
He always knows how to bring a smile out of her and he does it effortlessly.
It couldn't be just her luck, can it?
'How am I supposed to stand by the decisions I have made if you continue being this nice to me?" She asked.
'Then don't," he said but he realized what she said. 'Wait, what are…" he said but was stopped by Sapphire who wrapped her hand around his neck and slammed her lips on his, she kissed him feverishly while he stood there motionless.
She moved back a bit to stare into his eyes, he stared back before he pressed his lips on hers.
It was nothing like the way she kissed him, it was slow, gentle and passed a thousand messages that she understood, all his yearning and love.
The silent pleas for her to stay forever, she felt through the hand that was wrapped around her waist, his gentleness got across the care he had for her and at that moment she didn't want to stop this, she didn't want to move away.
She wants to be in his arms forever.
